Eric Besson, Secretary of State in charge of Prospectives and Evaluation of Public Policies, presented to the Prime Minister on February 26 the report entitled "flexicurity in Europe". This study, which compares good practices in six European countries which combine flexibility and security on the labor market, should serve as a basis for the reflection on French-style flexicurity. Requested by the Prime Minister, this report aims at “feeding social partners’ debate and at preparing the decisions which will be taken after the outcome of the negotiation” on the labor market (see our article No.080030). This study is more of a “comparative evaluation of the tools” used by six countries (Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Sweden) to combine economic and social needs in terms of employment policy, rather than a series of recommendations.
