After a false start on 3 December, French social partners resumed talks on 7 January 2026 on potential changes to the unemployment insurance agreement, including the rules governing compensation for contractual terminations. However, further negotiations remain contingent on a number of conditions set by the organisations involved.
The social partners managing Unédic, the joint body that runs France’s unemployment insurance system, met for the first time on 7 January to begin negotiations, at the request of French labour minister Jean-Pierre Farandou.
