France: support measures extended to promote dual work-study recruitment and prolong a special workers’ purchasing power bonus (targeting ‘second line’ workers)

On 15 March, following the conclusion of a meeting with the social partners at the inter-professional level French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced several employment support measures which target youth employment (mainly by extending support for dual work-study recruitment) and corporate profit sharing (by way of prolonging the ‘Macron bonus’ until the end of 2021). While all employees will be eligible, the scheme needs to be refined so that ‘second-line workers’ are the priority beneficiaries. In addition, a three-stage consultation process has been launched on the pathway out of the pandemic crisis, i.e. adapting and creating schemes to support the economic rebound.
