France Telecom: the EWC holds a plenary meeting in Cairo

For the first time - to our knowledge - the EWC members of a European multinational company, in this case the French telecommunications' group France Telecom, met for a plenary session in a city located outside the European Union - Cairo. In addition, the management is still bargaining for the creation of a global works council. (Ref. 080509)

The management of the France Telecom group organized, on June 19-20, a plenary meeting for its EWC on the riverbank of the Nile in Cairo. This approach is unseen for the EWC of a company, and collateral to negotiations for the creation of a global works council, which the management intends to conclude before the end of the year. A new bargaining meeting will be held on June 23-24. The current EWC has a plenary session three times a year, once at the headquarters in Paris, once in another Frenc
