France: the Commission investigates into how La Poste and RATP’s pensions are financed

The DG Competition of the European Commission has authorised the aid planned for financing the retirement pensions of civil servants working for La Poste and is getting ready to examine whether the financing of RATP's pensions is compatible with the Community rules. (Ref. 070837)

The investigation into how RATP’s pensions are financed started Following the 2006 reform on RATP pension schemes, management of the “basic” rights was entrusted to the general scheme of private-law employees, that is to say the CNAV (national fund for old-age insurance) and to the AGIRC-ARRCO (supplementary pension schemes for executives and employees). Management of “specific” rights (exceeding the provisions of the general scheme), provided for by RATP staff rules, became the responsibility
