General Motors' European Works Council (European Employee Forum - EEF) signed, with the President of General Motors Europe, a framework agreement concerning the production of the next generation Astra and Zafira, and two models of a new SUV to be produced in Antwerp, Belgium. The company gave in to the EEF's most important demands: no plant closures and no enforced redundancies. On April 29, 2008, Carl-Peter Forster, President of GME, and the chairmen of the EEF, Klaus Franz and Rudi Kennes, signed a framework agreement for five plants: Bochum (Germany), Ellesmere Port (UK), Trollhattan (Sweden), Gliwice (Poland), and Antwerp (Belgium).
