Generali: EWC agreement renewed
New agreement. On May 4, after about one year negotiating, Generali management and the EWC signed the 4th agreement renewal – the first one was in 1997. “Through this agreement, the Parties aim at disseminating and strengthening (…) the constructive dialogue characterizing EWC activities” reads the agreement’s preamble. The agreement states that the EWC is the only structure entitled to deal with transnational issues – defined as operations affecting at least two Countries, even if there are exceptions to this principle where the interests of at least half the workers in one Country is affected (see below on the Select Committee). Besides, it improves EWC members’ rights of information/consultation as it uses the definitions from the recast directive.
