In 2007, important collective agreements will be renegotiated in the main branches of German industry: metalworking industry, chemical, printing works, but also wholesale and retail trade. Given the new dynamism of the economy, trade unions are asking for strong salary increases. (Ref. 070002)
According to Reinhard Bispinck, wage expert for the Hans-Böckler foundation, close to trade unions, the collective agreements concluded into 2006 were already more generous than the previous years (+3% in the metalworking industry, +3.8% in the iron and steel industry, +3% in the banking sector, etc), but “in 2007, trade union demands will be higher than in 2006, because the German industry’s health is excellent”.
