Germany: 5.2% increase for insurance employees

After several waves of strikes (see our dispatch No.  110415), the Verdi services’ union and the employers’ federation of German insurance companies (AGV) have reached an agreement, early in the morning of July 22nd, providing for a wage increase divided in two: 3% on September 1, 2011, and then 2.2% in October 2012, as well as a €350 bonus next month.  Verdi asked for a 6% wage increase or at least €150 a month over 12 months (see our dispatch No.  100801).  For their part, employers offered a single €300 bonus for July 2011 as well as a wage increase divided in two: 2% in October 2011 and 1.5% in January 2013.
