After six months' negotiations, Michelin Deutschland's management, the company's central committee and the IG BCE union (chemistry), presented on July 2, 2007 in Karlsruhe the "Zukunftspakt" which guarantees the future of the five German sites and job security until 2012, in exchange for an extension of working time with no wage compensation. Michelin’s 5.600 German employees in the production field can breathe now. Indeed, the central works council (CWC), the IG BCE and Michelin’s management reached an agreement which appears to satisfy all parties. “We rejoice in finding an agreement which offers employees a much acceptable war to take part in the keeping of German production sites through an extension in working time. The bonus negotiated in terms of training also helps us developing German sites’ advantages on quality”, declared
