On Wednesday 1 March, social partners from the textile sector struck an agreement on a wage raise. The agreement provides for a 4.4% increase in total and it will affect 100,000 employees in the Länder of former West Germany. The deal also increases holiday allowances and the payments made to workers who take early retirement to work part time. The agreement is binding for a period of 24 months, until 31 January 2019. Negotiations over a collective agreement to cover the 30,000 employees in the eastern Länder are set to kick off later this month.
The IG Metall trade union and the employers’ federation textil+mode struck a deal on salaries on Wednesday 1 March. The agreement, which is valid for two years up until 31 January 2019, will apply to the 100,000 employees of the sector working in the Länder of former West Germany.
