Round tables, short films, exhibitions, information stands, “cross-cultural” menus… For the “Second German Diversity Day,” which took place on June 3 across the country, more than 300 businesses presented their diversity policies to the public via different actions. About 600 demonstrations were organized - twice as much as for the first Diversity Day in June 2013. According to the Diversity Charter organization, this increase shows the growing importance of diversity management in German firms because of the growing lack in skilled workers. Initiated in December 06 by 4 large businesses (Daimler, BP Europa SE - then called Deutsche BP -, Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Telekom), the Diversity Charter has since been signed by over 1,800 businesses and public organizations in Germany.
Lots of creativity. At dm-droguerie markt GmbH&Co, the cosmetics chain, on June 3, employees were invited to send each other kind words, not via email, text or WhatsApp but a traditional postcard sent via the internal mailing service. On 4 sites, workers at Airbus Operations GmbH enjoyed international dishes at the cafeteria. At the head office of Fraport, the company operating the Frankfurt airport, engaged employees held information stands and gave their colleagues concrete information...
