On April 24, the IG-Metall metalworkers’ union and the IG BCE chemistry union presented an interim report of the elections for the works councils’ representatives, which started on March 1 throughout Germany and will end on May 31. According to the IG Metall, which has the results of about 3,000 businesses employing over 1 million employees, so far, its candidates have won 75 percent of the seats. Currently, the elections are characterized by a high turnout rate and a large share of women in WCs. For its part, for the moment, the chemistry union has 83 percent of seats. The IG Metall says the final report will only be known at the end of the year.
