A few days after the metal industry regional negotiations on renewing collective agreements got off to a start on January 14, 2015 the president of IG Metall, Detlef Wetzel has given positive account of 2014 and has presented the union’s priorities for 2015. The first success feature is the fact that the union has recorded a rise in membership for the fourth year in a row with more than 110,000 new members joining in 2014. The union intends to launch an offensive in favor of vocational training (one of the primary themes for the collective negotiations) and also for co-determination.
