Work overload, mobbing, precarious jobs...: more and more German employees suffer from psychological troubles. This costs companies several billion euros, which could be avoided with health management systems. These are the main conclusions of the annual report of the Association of German Professional Psychologists (BDP), presented on April 22, 2008. (Ref. 080396)
According to the association, the trend is unequivocal. Whereas the number of industrial accidents is decreasing (see our article No. 061257), the number of psychological and behavioral troubles is spreading. Between 2001 and 2005, their part in sick leaves went from 6.6 to 10.7%, which equals a €4.4 billion loss of capacity.
