On the occasion of an extraordinary congress which took place last Sunday (April 22, 2007,) the IG BAU's 300 delegates voted in favor of an internal reform which is supposed to strengthen original members' involvement and the weight of the cells imbedded in the companies. This reform comes whereas the union has to face a revolt from several regional managerial federations, who refuse the national collective agreement signed on March 31, 2007. (Ref. 070381)
Whereas the German BTP’s growth (7% in 2006 and 2% planned for 2007) has not been this good in years, the IG BAU still suffers the effects from the ten years’ crisis and from the decrease in workforce (308,000,) which has decreased in half since 1996.
