Germany: the energy producer Eon wants to impose an increase in working time with no wage compensation for 33,000 employees

Muffled but tough negotiations started between Eon and Verdi, the services union. The company's management wants to increase working time with no wage compensation, and also decrease employment wages and seniority bonuses and, in the end, outsource several departments. (Ref. 070336)

Verdi’s trade unionists are furious. Whereas Eon made a 5.1 billion euros benefit in 2006 and is about to pay a 22% dividend to its shareholders (2.2 billion euros), the German energy giant decided to launch a savings plan which will have an impact on all employees.
