The government adopted, on September 13th, 2006, the outlines of a plan of revival for workers over 50 years old. This plan extends the measures already taken to reduce the number of early retirements and, lately, to raise the legal retirement age from 65 to 67 years old starting in 2012. (Ref. 06901)
The new initiative, called « 50 Plus », sets four objectives: 1 ° to raise the employment rate of people over 50 to 50 % by 2010, compared to 45 % today; 2 ° to strongly reduce the tendency to leave professional life after 55 years old ; 3 ° to re-integrate the unemployed persons of this age group; 4 ° to reinforce the professional training of senior workers.
