ating, Detlef Wetzel, number 2 at the IG Metall, announced that there would be “no more wage gifts for businesses”. If the managers of ailing businesses want to cut wages, in exchange, they will have to give part of the capital to employees. Equipment manufacturer Schaeffler/Continental and carmaker Opel could be the first ones to “taste” this new strategy which is also going to be adapted to SMEs. (Ref. 090322)
