Germany: the major political parties are honing their election arguments
Whilst on 06 February the Bavarian branch of the conservative union the CSU backed CDU Angela Merkel’s candidature as Chancellor and head of September’s general electoral list, both the conservative and social democrat political parties have started to reveal their electoral campaign messages on employment and the labor market. Given the rising wave of populism in the country both axes are sharing the central theme of equality and social cohesion. However this joint stance stops there with the left looking to raise salaries and upgrade ’normal’ employment and the right focusing on jobs creation via flexible working time arrangements and fresh support for training.
