Olaf Scholz, social democrat Minister, announced that he was preparing an amendment for paragraph 612 of the Civil Code which only vaguely deals with training allowances. Employers' federations protest against the initiative, which they feel might eliminate many training offers. (Ref. 080227)
For two years, Germany has been debating about the abusive use of voluntary interns in businesses. In compensation for an activity which often equals a real job, they are often employed without a contract, with no financial or material compensation, and with no specific limit of working time.
