This complaint marks a further step in the conflict opposing the ver. di union and Deutsche Post on the one hand and GNBZ and the main rival postal firms, TNT and PIN, on the other hand. Since January 1, 2008 the minimum wage in the branch rising from € 8 to 9.8 negotiated by ver.di and an employers federation dominated by Deutsche Post has become effective in the German postal sector. However, one of the main rivals in German postal services, the Dutch group TNT (PIN has meanwhile agreed to apply the legislation) refuses to implement this wage adjustment. Comforted by a decision of the administrative court in Berlin (see our article n°080230), the group refers to its own collective agreement signed with the GNBZ union, which makes provision for the payment of a minimum wage between 6.5 and 7.5 € an hour.
