The third meeting between the IG Metall trade union, the central works council and Volkswagen management, which took place on 21 November, failed to produce an agreement, despite a proposal from employee representatives that could lead to savings of €1.5 billion. As a result, the union has announced large-scale strike action after the end of the social truce on 30 November.
