One year after announcing the return of the 35-hour week (see our dispatch n° 06600) in its factories from western Germany, the car manufacturer Volkswagen announced, on June 11, 2007, that it made "clear progress" in terms of productivity and output in its main site in Wolfsbourg. VW's work's council asked the management to find solutions to keep the jobs that are threatened by the productivity increase. (Ref. 070520)
“Collaborator’s car production should rise up to 27 in 2007 on the Wolfsbourg site against 24 last year,” declared Horst Neumann, responsible of human resources within the board of directors, during a personnel meeting on June 11 in Wolfsbourg. The human resources manager also announced new measures to strengthen productivity even more. “This goal is part of Volkswagen’s way,” pointed Horst Neumann in a press release, announcing – among others – an upcoming improvement of labour organization.
