The government announced, on March 7, the investment of £5 million a year in the next three years in a program to integrate women in sectors where they are under-represented. (Ref. 080225)
Created in 2006, the program, entitled Women and Work Sector Pathways Initiative already helped more than 8.000 women to find a job in areas that are mostly masculine and which lack skilled workforce, such as the building, agriculture and automotive sectors. Nine sector skills councils (SSCs) are currently running projects to favor women’s employment in these sectors.
