On 22 November during the UK government’s autumn budget presentation, the chancellor announced an ‘historic’ partnership between the employers’ body, the CBI, and the union confederation body, the TUC, that will work together to create the National Retraining Scheme. The chancellor also announced a 4.4% rise in the minimum wage effective from April 2018.
Developing digital skills. £76 million (€85.7 million) will be directed towards lifelong learning as part of new National Retraining Scheme. Chancellor Philip Hammond declared, “Its first priority will be to boost digital skills and to support expansion of the construction sector,” before adding “And to make a start immediately, we will invest £30 million (€33.8 million) in the development of digital skills distance learning courses, so people can learn wherever they are, and whenever they want
