The government published, on June 12, 2007, a road map to simplify and improve regulation on discriminations outside the workplace. This decision was lukewarmly welcomed by unions and the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), who would have preferred that governmental action focuses more on discriminations at the workplace. The regulation on discriminations considerably increased in 40 years, so the British government decided to launch a consultation in order to create a single text, and to legislate on the protection of certain groups which have not yet been taken into account by the law.
