Called ‘Term-time contracts’, these employment contracts mean UK staff (75,000) do not work during their children’s school holidays. This new arrangement is currently only available for staff at the company’s ‘fulfilment’ centres (warehouses,) but it is due to be rolled out across its service and delivery centres in the UK throughout the course of the year.
Amazon UK staff, be they parents, grandparents, or legal guardians of school attending/going children, are now able to opt for an employment contract that explicitly factors in non-working time during the children’s school holidays (6 weeks during the summer and 2 weeks for Easter and Christmas).
