Whilst strike action demanding higher wages has become more frequent over the past few months all political bodies including the Prime Minister David Cameron are now calling for businesses to raise incomes in a country currently enjoying a robust economic recovery but where salaries after plummeting during the recession remain low. Even if the Prime Minister’s announcement about salaries being too low was aimed at seducing the electorate it is nonetheless a recurring issue that smacks of being the economy’s Achilles heel.
