On 25 September the UK government unveiled its latest Covid-combatting and post-Brexit budget intentions. Two key features of the spending review are the launch of a new ‘Restart’ scheme that aims to help 1 million find jobs again in 2021, and the maintenance of the increase in the minimum salary despite the pandemic, although its size will be more moderate.
“My number one priority is to protect jobs and livelihoods across the UK,” said Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak when presenting the Spending Review to the House of Commons. To this end, he has launched a new Restart program that will be particularly aimed at older workers.
