A number of employers and unions have recently signed agreements to end the use of zero hour contracts. With zero hours contracts becoming an increasingly political ‘hot potato’ in the forthcoming general election, they are responding to this by taking the initiative and setting their own terms for ending the use of the controversial contracts.
Whoever wins the general election and forms the next government is tasked with introducing the regulations banning zero hour contracts that contain exclusivity clauses – being allowed to only work for one employer – following the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 being put on the statute book (see article n°8982).
