The English workforce is less unskilled than it looks : what goes unnoticed is the trainings, in particular trainings within companies, because they are not recognized by national organizations, the CBI - the main employers' confederation - pointed. In a report published in April, it contradicted the Leitch report, which had sounded the alarm, in December 2006, on British employees' weak training and skills level (see our story n°061233.) According to the CBI, the problem does not come from a lack in training: British companies invest 33 billion pounds a year in training, more than in France, Italy, the United States or Japan. However, only a third is spent in organizations leading to a qualification. Most trainings are thus not recognized by a national equivalence.
