Great Britain: employers, unions and government praise union representatives’ positive influence

Honor union representatives. “In today's difficult economic climate, it is more important than ever that all resources available to the workplace are well deployed. We believe that modern representatives have a lot to give their fellow employees and to the organizations that employ them.” This is how the report written together with the Business School of Leeds starts. Through this report, employers unions and the government want to bring attention to the rather hidden but sizeable work performed by these employees. Seven case studies shoe the importance of union representatives in specific businesses (Boots, British Museum, Npower…). The message is clear: many issues managers are facing are solved together with the representatives, who can propose innovating solutions for the company and the employees.
