According to the trade union confederation TUC, the number of employees working unpaid overtime has strongly increased in 2007. Unions are worried and want to launch a national campaign against this phenomenon, whereas employers think that the usual employment contract with a defined number of weekly hours is obsolete in the current economy. According to figures provided by the National Statistics Labour Force Survey and Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings published by the TUC, the number of employees working unpaid overtime increased of 130.000 in 2007.
