Following last year’s long and bitter dispute at Grangemouth between the Unite union and the petrochemical company, Ineos, some rapprochement has now taken place. An agreement has been reached allowing Unite continued direct access to recruit new starters at the huge industrial complex.
The agreement also sees Ineos re-introduce the ‘check off system’ by which employees can pay their Unite membership fees direct to the union from their monthly pay packet (saving the time and energy to get members to fill out direct debit forms with their banks and which inevitably leads to loss of membership and income).
