What is it ? Job evaluation consists in defining the relative importance of a job, which gives rise to pay and special grading. This enables to define hierarchy-levels between the different jobs and thus to explain wage differences. It is a complex and risky process, the ACAS’ guide warns. The company must first assess the risks, then seek legal advisors who will help them establish the process, and who should also be experts in terms of wage equality.
