Equality Act 2010. Most provisions of the Equality Act 2010 are coming into force today. This act contains different existing regulations in terms of discrimination, and adds novelties (see our dispatch No. 100592): increased protection for disabled people; introduction of discrimination by association, combined discriminations, the possibility of positive action in some cases; the end of silent remuneration; a ban on pre-employment health questions; extension of harassment by third-parties (employers can be held liable if an employee is harassed by a customer because of a protected characteristic). Please remember that, since the Act wants to reduce the gender pay gap, in-house pay audits will eventually become mandatory.
