On 09 January, Theresa May, the UK Prime Minister, launched a major plan to both dispel the stigma surrounding mental health and to improve ‘mental health’, particularly within businesses. To this end two subject matter experts have been nominated who are tasked with establishing a report detailing how workers with mental health issues can be better supported so they can fully enjoy and carry out their work.
Former HBOS boss, Lord Dennis Stevenson, a longtime advocate for improving awareness of mental health issues and Paul Farmer, head of an NHS mental health task force have been given the task of putting the report together that will ultimately offer practical advice to all companies, both in the public and private sectors.
