Great Britain: stronger government measures to combat British and immigrant labor exploitation

The government has announced a fresh raft of measures aimed at protecting the rights and interests of the most vulnerable workers. Amongst the key measures is that recruitment firms will no longer be permitted to recruit solely from overseas without 28 days prior advertising in Britain and in the English language.

Regulation 27A of the Conduct Regulations, in force from January 2015, already requires employment agencies and businesses to advertise jobs in Britain and in English either before or at the same time as advertising it in another in European Economic Area (EEA) country. The new measure, extends this requirement to include any overseas recruitment activity. Agencies and businesses that want to recruit from outside the EEA countries now need to comply with the Resident Labour Market Test requirin
