Disguised dismissals, health fears and discrimination: acccording to labor law experts, the UK’s Coronovirus ‘test and trace’ scheme that went live on 28 May could lead to an upsurge in employee claims with the employment tribunals. The TUC trade union confederation, is calling for a change in the legislative framework to protect employees from potential abuse.
Whether by SMS, telephone or email, the ‘test and trace’ scheme can now contact anyone who has recently been in contact with a patient or person suspected of being ill, and ask them to immediately self-isolate. In the coming weeks, this new system will lead to spontaneous, unexpected work stoppages in companies.
