Long or strong exposure to crystalline silica, which is found in materials that are used in many industries, can lead to a disease called silicosis. Eventually, silicosis can trigger lung cancer. The trade union estimates that some 90,000 employees in foundries, ceramics, brick-making, quarries and mining are concerned by this hazard.
