The UK government has asked The Flexible Working Task Force to publish a new guide for employers that promotes partial post-pandemic teleworking. The report has been commissioned for publication within six months and if possible as soon as employees return to the office, which could even be in mid-June. The goal of the Executive seems to be to anchor flexible work into employees’ daily lives, while regulating its impact. A majority of companies currently consider telework not to have affected productivity and that it has generally contributed to employee well being.
The Flexible Working Task Force, which was set up in 2018 by former Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May, met for the first time since 2019 in the week 26 April; and it certainly has its work cut out.
