Great Britain: unions support the Labour with little positive enthusiasm and more out of fear that the Tories will come back

The need to do so to protect their members’ interests is clearly paramount after the deepest recession with its detrimental effect on wages and jobs, the huge national debt to bailout the banks and businesses, and the clear intent of all three major parties to cut public services to pay off this debt. Unions have the resources to get their policies heard. Nearly all have political funds to spend on political campaigning and they have hundreds of thousands of activists to knock doors and make phone calls.
