After a eighteenth month dispute involving a variety of forms of industrial action by its 1,200 construction members, the Unite union has won its dispute over health and safety that it has held with the contractors at the Sellafield decommissioning and renewal project in West Cumbria.
Unite principally wanted a full-time health and safety union officer, paid for by the employers, to cover the construction workers as well as an on-site health and safety committee to specifically cover these workers.
