Despite an explosion in new technology, latest research by the UK government finds that only 7% of employers recruit via social media channels, with the preferred channel remaining word of mouth.
“Getting out there and speaking with people is just as important as being online,” stresses Grahame Smith a member of UKCES a UK Government commission whose surprising finding was published in the latest survey “Employer Perspectives Survey”. Undertaken by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, the report, which surveyed more than 18,000 employers, found that over the past 12 months 30% of British businesses preferred word of mouth and personal recommendations when recruiting versus 29%
