The radical left Syriza party has just won an historic victory and may have to align with the Greek independent sovereign party to form a government. In September, Alexis Tsipras the Syriza party leader outlined his party’s program in Northern Greece’s capital, Thessalonica. As soon as the government is in place his party’s measures should be quickly implemented. It was there that he affirmed the policy measure of restoring the labor law, sidelined due to the Troika (ECB, EU and IMF) austerity measures that were put in place in exchange for loans amounting to 240 million euros.
On Sunday the radical left wing party Syriza won the Greek general election. With 36.34% of the votes his party gained 149 seats, less than the absolute majority necessary to form government on its own. However the size of the victory affords his party room for maneuver and he can rely on the Greek independents sovereign party (right wing) support to form a coalition.
