The European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF) and the UNI Europa union federation evaluated, on November 13, 2008, the first European day of action organized the same day to object to the restructuring plan linked to EDS' takeover by HP, which should lead to 24.600 job cuts - 9.000 in Europe. Initiated by the two European trade unions,
the day of action took different forms in the different countries. Signatures
against management plans have been collected in Germany, Denmark, Switzerland
and Hungary. Demonstrations took place in front of the buildings in most of the
HP/EDS sites in France and Spain. In Germany, Belgium and Sweden, information
