During a meeting of the Labour Secretaries from G8 countries (Germany, Canada, United States, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and Russia), a union delegation from these countries, as well as members from the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), gave Angela Merkel their requests in preparation for the G8’s next summit (on June 6, 7, and 8 in Heiligendamm, Germany). The EU and the G8’s presidency want to make the guarantee of a social minimum an integral part of the G8’s future policy.
