The government is in the process of providing more details over legislation introduced in 2021 that progressively requires large Irish business organisations to publish their gender pay gaps. On 10 May the government published a guidance note showing employers how to calculate their gender pay gap metrics. The new requirements will initially apply to organisations with at least 250 employees, and will be extended to cover all companies with 50 or more employees by 2025.
After having recently denounced the government’s silence on this issue, HR experts are now relieved to see that the law (c.f. article No.12633) is finally being translated into action. On 10 May the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth published a calculation guidance note, while specifying that it is only intended to provide guidance and that the Regulations will provide the legal basis for reporting.
