In its 2026 budget, presented on 7 October, the Irish government accepted the recommendations of the Low Pay Commission report on the minimum wage. The minimum wage will therefore rise from €13.50 to €14.15 gross per hour from 1 January 2026, an increase of 4.8%. However, it will not reach the level of the ‘living wage’ or minimum subsistence wage, as the executive had hoped.
